چکیده

In Bacillus subtilis, motility genes are expressed in a hierarchical pattern – governed by the σD transcription factor and other proteins such as EpsE molecular clutch SlrA/SlrR regulator proteins. contrast, motile species cereus group seem to express their non-hierarchical pattern, less is known about regulation, also given that no orthologs σD, EpsE, SlrA or SlrR found B. genomes. Here we show deletion of cdgL (BTB_RS26690/BTB_c54300) thuringiensis 407 (cry-) resulted six-to ten-fold downregulation entire locus, loss flagellar structures swimming motility. unique all phylogenetic clusters population except for I, which comprises isolates non-motile pseudomycoides. Analysis RNA-Seq data revealed be three-gene operon with NupC like nucleoside transporter, putative glycosyl transferase transposon-based gene inactivation was previously shown produce similar phenotype deletion. Interestingly, three were predicted membrane-bound may provide concerted function regulation

Nucleotide sequence of an additional crystal protein gene cloned from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. thuringiensis.

The nucleotide sequences of 3 homologous crystal protein genes (cry A1,A2,A3) from Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki and subsp. thuringiensis have been reported previously (1, 2, 3, respectively). We report the nucleotide sequence of an additional crystal protein gene {cry hi) from B. thuringiensis subsp. thuringiensis strain HD2 that differs markedly in the aminoterminal region from the 3...

Contribution of surfactin and SwrA to flagellin expression, swimming, and surface motility in Bacillus subtilis.

Multicellular communities produced by Bacillus subtilis can adopt sliding or swarming to translocate over surfaces. While sliding is a flagellum-independent motility produced by the expansive forces in a growing colony, swarming requires flagellar functionality and is characterized by the appearance of hyperflagellated swarm cells that associate in bundles or rafts during movement. Previous wor...

Necrotrophism Is a Quorum-Sensing-Regulated Lifestyle in Bacillus thuringiensis

How pathogenic bacteria infect and kill their host is currently widely investigated. In comparison, the fate of pathogens after the death of their host receives less attention. We studied Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) infection of an insect host, and show that NprR, a quorum sensor, is active after death of the insect and allows Bt to survive in the cadavers as vegetative cells. Transcriptomic an...
